Players looking for extreme military combat will find endless pleasure in the advanced gadgetry of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Cutting edge artillery is viscerally imagined as players are transported to the dark reality of humanity's near future. Third-person shooting chaos has been refined to enshrine maximum carnage without sacrificing steadfast strategies and intensely instantaneous accuracy. Marksmen thrive in this environment that is designed to specifically cater to a sharpshooting mentality.

This title meshes seamlessly with the franchise that spawned a sleekly signature action approach. Squads of death mercenaries square off against each other in a desolate landscape that is eerily reminiscent of an apocalyptic aftermath. Wide open levels lead to wild encounters as teams of robotically enhanced soldiers engage arms.

The equipment is insanely futuristic. Sci-fi fans will freak out over the custom weapon mechanics. Every gun is assembled with unique parts that instill significant stat boosts and power-ups. Each firearm can be completely modified, and players can collect advanced pieces to quickly evolve their rifles into unstoppable killing machines. Gamers can gleefully change the barrel, stock, trigger and scope. Accumulating experience points will open access to new weapon upgrades.

Missions provide realistic embodiments of war scenarios. During rescue operations, a covert touch is needed to save hostages from imminent execution. Silence is needed in this mode, so spy skills are key to victory. These objectives are assisted by operational drones and optical camoflauge. Meanwhile, many levels mandate hunting enemy combatants to bring them to justice. These stages typically involve capturing dangerous targets, and they provide a solid balance to the stealthy tasks. Explosive firefights are featured alongside nimble assassin techniques.

The ability to control computer teammates has been reduced in comparison to this game's predecessor. Their commands have been simplified to let players focus more on the battle at hand; however, AI allies are still useful. They respond to basic orders, which lets them provide extra fire, line up shots and take cover. Since the game emphasizes extensive teamwork, most of the single-player campaign is lacking the central element. The one-player mode provides a clear introduction to the gameplay, but the story is nonsensically impossible to follow. Luckily, it is irrelevant to most of the rich entertainment.

As a result, multiplayer will always be the main perk of a Ghost Recon game, and this title does nothing to alter that trend. The map functions are downright genius, and they forge easy paths to every objective. Most of the environment is responsive and interactive. Destruction takes form as it would in real life, and the particle effects mimic actual rubble and debris.
